JUNIOR DESIGNER
JOB OVERVIEW
Seeking a creative and detail-oriented Junior Interior Designer to join boutique design firm located in Tomball, TX. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of design principles and have experience in residential new construction, interior finishes and furnishings as well as AutoCAD. This role involves collaborating with Principal designer and clients to create functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces that meet their needs and preferences. The Jr. Interior Designer will contribute to the success of the firm by assisting with all aspects of design development, sourcing, meeting preparation, technical drawings, project management and final installations.
DUTIES
Collaborate with Principal Designer to create full design concepts for projects based on client needs and vision.
Develop detailed design plans, including floor plans, color schemes, furniture layouts and mood boards for client presentations.
Utilize software such as AutoCAD, Keynote/Powerpoint to create accurate drawings and presentations. Rendering skills is a plus.
General research and product sourcing
Maintain organized client binders
Travel to various job sites within the northwest Houston area to assess spaces, measure dimensions, and evaluate existing conditions for all projects.
Select materials, furnishings, fixtures, and accessories that align with the overall design concept while considering functionality and budgetary constraints.
Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and technologies to provide innovative design solutions.
Organize and manage samples library
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or a related field is preferred.
2-3 years experience in interior design with a strong portfolio showcasing previous work in residential settings.
Proficient in AutoCAD is essential.
Proficient at navigating Houston design centers, obtaining pricing, reserves and working with trade resources and vendors.
Experience selecting and specifying lighting, furnishings, hardware, floor/window coverings, materials and finishes
Experience with quotes, proposals, budgets, purchase orders and purchasing process.
Familiarity with Design Manager or similar management software is a plus.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and shift between tasks.
Must have valid drivers license and insurance with reliable vehicle
Have a positive, friendly, professional attitude and a good sense of humor
